This artwork represents the red, mineral rich earth we have on Wiradjuri Country. The differing shades of ochre and the layered earth we walk on each day.
It is reminiscent of travel for me, and the hour upon hour of watching out the window, transfixed and in awe of the beauty Mother Earth surrounds us with each day.
It also represents ‘painting up’ and the sacred ritual we experience before ceremony. Layering our skin with ochre, connecting to the earth, and respecting ancient practices in order to keep them alive.
